Resumo

The ART technique needs to be carried out in conjunction with an educational and preventive program, which provides information on general and oral health care, understanding the context of each individual's life. In this context, the aim of the present study was to perform a literature review on the atraumatic technique of dental caries restorations in pediatric dentistry associated with prevention programs as a strategy for the control of dental caries in Brazilian public health. The literature has shown that the simplification of the restorative procedure, added to social benefits, such as increased coverage and reduced tooth loss, significantly reduced the intrinsic cost of the recommended material. By using a procedure that does not depend on the installed clinic, the interruption of coverage of the population is avoided, even in case of equipment failure, and allows the socialization of the clinical space.
